The end of summer, the dawn of a new football season, and fans all over Europe and the world prepare for the kick-off of the domestic leagues. The transfer market has been busy and everyone is ready to se how their club will perform. This season is special, however, as it ends with the most elite competition in world football – the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.
With only 16 places up for grabs, there is a possibility of failure of big guns such as England, Spain or Italy to even make the finals, whilst smaller nations such as Northern Ireland, Scotland, Bosnia and Israel are hoping that their nations can make it.
It’s make or break time for many hopes and fears: crunch time, when the men sort themselves out from the boys. Some teams such as Germany and reigning champions Greece look pretty secure in their aspirations but for every other nation, the results of the next few games will dictate whether their players spend next summer chilling on the beach or in the Alps competing for European intentional football’s top prize.
